HAPPIES

1. I made the CUTEST valentines for my students last night. With all the candy that they’ll be getting today, I didn’t want to add to their huge pile of cavities. I decided to go and buy a huge box of goldfish, some cute valentine cellophane bags, and made these fun tags for my kiddos. I think they came out great! I’ll take a picture of them on their desks today to show y’all on Instagram, but I thought it’d be nice to share my little craft making with you all and give you a freebie printable for your kids! Here’s an example of them (don’t mind my terrible cutting with dull scissors hah!) You can get your FREE Valentine’s Goldfish Printable here or click the preview image for the PDF.

Love this Valentine's Goldfish Printable from TheVintageModernWife.com! Finally a free printable!
2. Our #GraeBlogiday giveaway on Instagram has commenced! If you have an Instagram simply follow the 4 hosts, regram the picture, and use our hashtag to be entered to win! The giveaway prize includes a chevron infinity scarf, a roller ball of perfume, a beautiful necklace, and a lotion sample! Definitely enter while you can!

3. I’m dreaming of warm climates and wishing I was back in Mexico on my honeymoon. Thinking of Mexico is ALWAYS a happy because we seriously had the best week of our lives there. Oh, how I long to go back…

4. I’ve got a special Valentine’s dinner on the menu for tonight. We decided it’d be more cost efficient to eat in this year, especially because we always choose to go somewhere uber fancy, and I took it upon myself to decide the menu since I’ll be cooking. It’ll still be fancy and over the top, but definitely WAY less expensive than if we’d chosen to go out to eat. For our appetizer I’ll be making cheese fondue with cheddar and swiss cheese. To dip I’ll be buying pumpernickel bread and granny smith apples. For the main course I’ll be making steaks, mashed potatoes, and green beans. I’m drooling already for the steaks! As for dessert, I’ll be making a mock recipe of turtle pecan fondue from one of my favorite restaurants, The Melting Pot. It’ll be chocolate with caramel and pecans in it. I also decided it’d be fun to buy strawberries, marshmallows, and rice krispy treats to dip in it. I’m really hoping it’ll be as much of a success in person as it is in my head.

5. My parents are coming to visit us this weekend! I’m really excited because we haven’t seen them since New Years and they hardly ever come to town. Last time they came up here it was in the fall, and before then it’d been May when I graduated from college. Although the house isn’t quite in order yet like I wanted it to be (see crappy #1), I know it’ll all come together before they arrive.

CRAPPIES

1. So much for blogging mojo! I got sick this week and have been down for the count. I even stayed home yesterday to rest and felt even worse. I’m so ready to have the energy to blog for next week! I had to miss work yesterday (and I HATE missing work) because I felt so rotten. I think I’m on the mend, but we’ll see!

Now it’s your turn to link up! Tell us about the Happies and Crappies from your week!

HAPPIES

1. First off, IT’S FRIDAAAAAY! Thank the Lord!

2. I’m SO happy to have a new co-host for Happies and Crappies. I’m sad Sarah decided to stop (because of her awesome photography skills), but I’m excited to have Amber around. She’s been a great friend of mine for a while now, and I’m thrilled that she wanted to co-host with me.

3. Mathew and I are babysitting little miss Savannah this Saturday for Baylor Homecoming. I really look forward to our babysitting nights just because Savannah is really easy to take care of and it just gives Mathew and I some quiet time to actually sit, talk, and relax instead of doing a million things at home. She’s the cutest little kiddo and always dressed perfectly in little Baylor gear!

4. My mother-in-law bought Pearl a pumpkin sweater yesterday. I couldn’t help but squeal like a little kid when I put it on her. She looks so dang cute.

5. I am in the process of getting new/revamped business cards for the blog! It’s definitely MUCH needed and I’m super excited about them. I have a friend’s dad make them for me through his advertising agency. He did a great job last year when I needed some made, so I can’t wait to see how these turn out. I’ll be excited to pass them out at Bloggy Boot Camp Dallas in just a few short weeks!

CRAPPIES

1. It’s been a long week. I feel constantly busy at work, but yet I feel like I keep forgetting to do things too! It’s frustrating the heck out of me because I feel out of my groove. I just need a margarita!

2. I’m still hacking up a lung and I’m so sick and tired of it. It’s almost been TWO whole weeks.

Now it’s your turn to link up! Tell us about the Happies and Crappies from your week!

My Second Home

I never got around to sharing pictures of my second home, my classroom, with y’all. I know several of you asked so I thought this would be the perfect time to share pictures with you all.

I was able to get some pictures of my room right before our Meet the Teacher night started. A few things have changed in my room, but this is what it generally looks like.

The Vintage Modern Wife's 1st grade classroomI took this picture from the back of my classroom. Up front is my word wall, calendar, white board, and a projector that acts as an interactive white board. I also have 2 bookshelves for a reading area on the right, and a discipline chart on the left, I arranged my desks in groups of 5 which has worked really well!

The Vintage Modern Wife's 1st grade classroomThis is more of the room. I don’t have a traditional teacher desk because I felt like the kidney table AND a teacher desk took too much room. I put my computer on a tiny computer table, and put my kidney table next to it. It works really well. I also have my Math board on that wall with boxes underneath for our math stations. I like to keep organized if you can’t tell!

Love the way The Vintage Modern Wife did her teacher about me board! Love the pictures with the captions! This is my teacher about me bulletin board. It’s right behind my desk so the kids can get to know me better. They love asking about ‘Mr. Wolfe” and Pearl. They always ask for them to come visit, which I think is adorable.

This classroom job chart by The Vintage Modern Wife is so easy to make and really cute! I need one for my own class! I made this job chart for my classroom with cute circles from Mardel and some ribbon. It was too long to make all one, so I divided it into two and it works really well! I rotate the jobs weekly and the kids look forward to me announcing what their job is every Monday. I put their class number on the clothespins so I could keep using them every year and not have to worry about putting names on them!

So there ya have it! There’s more to my room now- like bulletins on all 4 sides of the walls with actual charts on them, and I didn’t ever take pictures of the back of my classroom because it was an empty bulletin board and a row of computers, but maybe I’ll take some updated ones soon.

Regardless, this place is my second home and I love it. As a first year teacher, I think it looks pretty darn good!

So, what do YOU do for a living? Sound off in the comments!
