For me, picking out hostess gifts hasn’t been an easy task. What do you get a woman (or in my case, several women) that shows how much you appreciate their generosity without looking/feeling like you’re a cheapskate or breaking the bank?
For my first shower, I had no idea where to start. Luckily, I was headed to Hobby Lobby to get some craft items for a super secret bridesmaid gift and I stumbled upon this (but in black)!
Not only did my cousin (remember, she’s my cousin’s wife) Clarissa have her wedding on Valentines Day, but she loves everything having to do with love! It was the PERFECT gift (and you know Hobby Lobby always has sales so it wasn’t badly priced at all and was great quality!). Then, I decided to get one for her mother, Gloria, who is strong in her Christian beliefs and is a wonderful church-going woman. So which did I get her? “Faith”!
Now, I’d love to let you all know what I got for my ladies for this upcoming weekend, but my sister is a co-hostess and reads this blog so I better not mention it! I will let you all know though when I do recaps for that shower.
I did however find a GREAT idea that I think I may do for the october shower hostesses while watching Rachael Ray this morning. Ever heard of Cupcakes in a Jar? Well Rach briefly mentioned it on her show today and I have to say, why didn’t I think of this before?! Need a visual?
Basically all you do is get a mason jar, cupcake mix, and whatever you need to make your own frosting (whether it’s cream cheese, buttercream, ganache, etc). You bake your cupcakes according to the box directions and then let them cool. Once cool, you cut the cupcakes in half horizontally and layer in the mason jar! So it’s cupcake, frosting, cupcake, frosting, etc til you get to the top!
Plus, you can totally decorate it with bakers twine or a pretty ribbon, and even wrap a spoon with it! It’d even be cute to make a sticker for the top of the jar too. Not only is it fun, but it’s a super cheap idea while still being something your hostess will enjoy receiving. My October shower is a house/kitchen shower and I think this would be fun!
What are gifts you’ve given your hostesses? How much do you generally spend if it’s one person or several people?

I have NO idea what to give or how much to spend. My MIL is throwing me a shower in September, and I am not sure what to do. I was thinking about “shower” themed gifts – bath soaps, scrubs, etc. But I’m worried it might be a little too hokey?

I think I spent around $10 per hostess for each of my showers. For my first shower, I bought each girl a magnet made by my favorite artist and a bath bomb that looked like a cupcake. For the second shower, I purchase bubble bath and a bar of soap for each girl and then repackaged them in pretty paper. I think cupcakes in a jar sounds like a great idea!
