I Never Ever Ever….
– will I get to go home early from work. I feel like I’m always the last to leave and the kids haven’t even started coming yet. I’m already exhausted and I’m not sure how to remedy it. Any teacher friends want to give me advice? I feel as though I’m about to burst into tears at any moment because I’m so stressed.
– can eat tons of junk food over and over. I’ve been having to eat lunch out every day last week (and then yesterday) because of our inservices, and I’m totally sick of it. I definitely am glad I’ll be bringing lunches to work in my cute Thirty-One lunch box.
– will stop being excited for Fall. Fall is my favorite time of year. I love the crisp, cool air, warm Caramel Apple Spice in my hands, and an awesome scarf on my neck. It’s the best feeling ever. Plus, I miss wearing my sweater Uggs. Those things were so warm and cozy. Usually my fall fashion looks like this…well except with pants and not leggings. Because leggings are NOT pants.
Um ok totally just realized that I’ve had this picture pinned FOREVER and it’s Lindsay from The Pleated Poppy! LOVE her! Hah totally makes my day now. (end random thought)

My first year I was there nearly every day until anywhere between 7 and 9. I finally broke down and asked what I was doing wrong and someone told me its okay to not get everything done. I’m in my 8th year and I still struggle with balance but I’m not there until 7 all the time anymore. I have colleagues who leave at 4:30 daily so I think it can be done I just haven’t figured it out. I just chalk the extra hours up to passion for the profession and wanting to do a good job. It will show up in your teaching and be totally worth it. I bet your class will be fun. The first year is the toughest but stick it out. The exhaustion gets easier and less. I still take a huge nap after the first few weeks.

It takes time. Some days you will have to set a timer and when it goes off, you go home. You will find balance eventually! The first few weeks, I’m exhausted! Luckily, my room is pretty much ready to go and we haven’t even started our back to school meetings yet! 🙂

I love that “I need to eat a skinny person” photo– it’s one of my faves. Just knowing that my condo complex has a gym just below me and I have NO energy but have to cook a meal every night is killing me. WHERE IS MY ENERGY?
