I’m a wine brat. Just ask my friends. I am stuck in my ways when it comes to wine and I absolutely hate it. I can’t ever pair my wine with food because I’m a brat and only drink Moscato. Y’all know my love for Moscato isn’t a secret- at least… you should know. I want to be one of those people that has the perfect pairing of wine and food at a meal. Ya know- order steak and get red wine, or order fish and get white. Instead, every time I go out to a restaurant or bar I fall back on what I know. I’m just too dang comfortable with my wine!

I saw this awesome infographic on Pinterest and it really piqued my interest. I wanted to share it on the blog with y’all because I’m going to utilize it and I’m hoping that it’ll inspire my other wine-comfortable friends to do the same. What I love about this is that it shows the type of wine that you love, and how to branch out from it. There are SO many options close to Moscato! For instance- Neely totally got me into her favorite wine, Apothic White, which is a Riesling/Moscato/Chardonnay blend. It is a slight branch off of my usual, but hey, it’s a start! I really want to utilize this and hopefully like at least 2 other types of wines by summertime. Think I can do it?
So here are my questions for you: What wine is YOUR favorite and which new wine do you think you’ll try next after seeing this infographic? Feel free to pin it from here if you want to save it for future reference.
And now…I leave you with a picture of today’s glass of wine (of course, it’s Fratelli Moscato)

I saw this on Pinterest too! I wish I were more knowledgeable about wine, this is definitely helpful 🙂

I repinned this as well! I love all the Cupcake wines but I’m a bit of a local wine snob. My stepdad actually works for a vineyard so wine is free flowing in my household. I’m trying to do more reds. I love my whites but realize they don’t pair well with everything.
Syndal says
a Riesling is a nice sweet, white wine. I love all wine, but it took me some time to try different kinds to appreciate all the differences! And I’ve never had a Cupcake wine I didn’t LOVE. Even some of their reds are sweet.
Lisette @ Northern Belle Diaries says
I love my reds. After 2 years of marriage I finally branched out and have embraced whites a little more. I was introduced to Prosecco on our honeymoon in Italy. I love that and Moscato. But I really love hearty reds! My absolute favorite red is one that I don’t know where to get 🙁 It’s called Bridlewood Pinot Noir. Any Rioja wine (from Spain) or Tempranillo is a good red in my book as well. They pair heavenly with steak! I suggest you try the flight of three wines from PF Changs. It costs only slightly more than a single cup of wine yet you get to sample three without the commitment!
Ella {champagne+cardigans} says
Try Chilean wines!! The reds AND whites are some of my favorites… They’re usually pretty affordable too, especially at Total Wine and More!!
That's What She Read says
I am a mascato lover as well! I’ve tried about every kind my little grocery store offers! I’ve found that I can enjoy Reisling and a white zinfandel too, but there’s not a lot of reds I like, so I would love to find one!
Casey says
I’m a total wine snob, too! Of course, I do live in one of the tastiest wine regions in the world…so I’m a little biased to Riesling. I think that would be a great wine for you to try next! If you can find a Riesling Spatlese or Auslese (real German ones from Total Wine), those would be the sweetest of the Rieslings to try. Fetzer makes a nice Gewurtztraminer (semi-sweet white) that’s pretty darn tasty too. While I was home for Christmas, I tried a Gallo Family Sweet Chardonnay…if sweet’s your thing, that’s a nice one! 🙂 Have fun experimenting!!!

I love reds! The best way i got into reds was starting with blends. I love Menage A Trois. You can find it at Sams or Costco for 10$. It’s real good! Poppy is a great Pinot Noir.

I love all wine, but mostly drink reds. I should drink more white before my teeth turn red! LOL
Amber Cease says
I am really bummed that my favorite wine is a sweet red from a local vineyard/winery (Benigna’s Creek – Benigna’s Red)… and this infographic says “Not too much up here. Try Again!” for sweet reds… (pout) haha. Never the less, it’s a very cute pin indeed! 😉
Halie Renee says
Oh my gosh I love Moscato too! And I’m good with the the simple/cheap Rex Goliath or Barefoot that’s a whopping $6 or so at Target… but it’s just so yummy! Maybe I’ll try to branch out a bit too, and then my boyfriend and best friend won’t make quite as much fun of me for only drinking the super girly stuff 🙂

I’m not a wine drinker or drinker of alcohol in general. I’d love to find a nice red and white wine that I can have on hand for special times.
I hope to go wine tasting in the next couple years!

I’m a big wine lover. In the summer I like Voga PInot Grigio and the winter months I go for Mark West Pinot Noir. Both a little pricey for me as I like my wine ALOT. I like Liberty Creek for $7 a big bottle too! The infographic was pretty funny to read seeing how I like dry wine but a sweeter red!
Kristyn Monaghan says
I love this and I’m going to try that Apothic White now! I love the apothic red! My favorite wine is Chardonnay, Kendall Jackson to be specific! Most people think of Chardonnay as a dry wine so if that is you, try the Kendall Jackson Chardonnay first! My mom tried it at my graduation and she loved it! She had always thought Chardonnays were dry so she was pleasantly surprised. I need to branch out too, I always order/buy Chardonnay.
Megan @ EphesiansWife says
I love that I am not the only one that can’t branch out when it comes to wine! I like Merlot-that’s it! No matter how hard I try I just can’t get myself to order anything else. Steak…cheesecake…a turkey sandwich…I love my Merlot 🙂
Love the blog! Found you from the Friendly Friday blog hop. Hope you have a great weekend!

We normally just buy whatever’s cheapest, but my husband’s fave is White Zin (he doesn’t really like an alcohol taste) and I’ll drink just about anything, but I don’t like dry wines. My absolute favorite wine I ever had was an apple peach wine in Georgia, but I don’t know the brand or anything. There’s a really good plum wine that comes in a bottle with Japanese styling on the label.
To help lose weight I’m cutting out how much alcohol I drink, but I’m hoping to try a few more new wines this year.

If you like sweet white wines, I would highly recommend trying a pies-porter wine. I had never heard of it until my Mom ordered it at an Italian restraunt and I loved it.

I love this – thanks so much for posting! I definitely wish I was more knowledgeable about wine. Ask me for a mixed drink and I can make you anything… but I know next to nothing about wines! Moscato was my favorite but I’ve recently realized my love for Riesling. I also learned that I do NAHHHT like Pinot Grigio!
Alyson McMahon says
I’ve seen this on pinterest, although I’m not sure I have it pinned. I probably should though! 🙂 I love Moscato too, but Pinot Grigio is my favorite. I’m a bit of a wine snob, due to a family of wine-o’s. haha:) Really though, try a pinot grigio or a riesling. I love both. I love reds, but nothing too dry and I do NOT like Port. Blech, yuck! We love Cakebread wines, but they’re not cheap (like $80 a bottle), so we don’t have them often. Trader Joe’s and Bev Mo are my favorite places to shop and find new wines. And, often times the employees are pretty knowledgeable about them.
Sarah @ Scissors and a Whisk says
I’ve been on a wine tour and they showed us how to pair wine. It was super cool because the flavor of the wine actually CHANGED with whatever you ate.
I’m not that person.
I, too, am a Moscato snob. I’ll drink that, a few other sweet wines, and sangria lol
Don’t feel bad. I have a really good friend who says my palette hasn’t matured yet! bahahaha!
Brandi says
I loooove wine. I love chilled white wines like Riesling, Gewürztraminer and Moscato and for a less sweet – Pinot Grigio in the summer, or with foods like fish, chinese food etc etc. If I am eating something heartier, or when its colder outside, I prefer heartier red wines, My faves are Pinot Noir and Dolcetto and Malbec. I have an aerator for the red wines I feel it tones them down and gives them a little brighter flavor. I am no wine expert these are just things I prefer. Good luck branching out, I hope you find some more you like! I def recommend Gewürztraminer if you like Moscato though, I think you will love it. 🙂
The Crying Cook says
Thanks for admitting your wine snobbiness! I’m not alone. We’ve been to many places that have only made us pickier about our wines: south of France, Italy, Napa.
Gretchen says
Moscato is one of my favorites, too! I like Lambrusco. Roscato and Riesling, too. Basically anything sweet! I’ve branched out from time to time, but I always come back to my standards. I can have a glass of something different occasionally, but never at home…only when I’m out! 🙂
