I heart my friend Layla. Her sarcastic wit is just something I can’t live without, and I love her complete honesty. I follow Layla via her blog and through Twitter, and I couldn’t help but read this tweet and think, “Man- this is seriously the perfect time!”

I went “to the streets” of Twitterland to ask my favorite people (aka my awesome readers) what their favorite items to beat the winter blues, and here’s what they had to say:

As for my texting buddies? They had some great answers too. Ps- Is it sad that by 8:45 my phone is at 10% battery? Just sayin’.
Today’s weather + Layla’s tweet totally had me thinking. It’s been SO drab lately with rain, clouds, and sleet- and that’s JUST here in Texas. I know in other parts its been snowing a ton and just generally cruddy, and I have to admit, sometimes I just HAVE to do something to give myself a little pick me up.
I’ve got 5 items that I recommend for beating the winter blues:

1. Colored Tights
If you follow me on Instagram you would’ve seen a picture of me out to breakfast with friends wearing a dress and hot pink leggings. I asked my mother-in-law for tights for Christmas (specifically colored ones!). She gave me a pair of hot pink tights and a pair of navy blue lace type tights. Y’all- they brighten my day. I, like Mallory (above), totally feel like a little bit of color works WONDERS. Try it!

2. Essie Nail Polish
I love bright nail polish when I get the winter blues. I usually start wearing dark nail polish WAY too early into fall (mainly because I get so excited for the weather) that by mid-January I’m completely sick of it. My cure? Get a mani/pedi and pick out a bright pink or bright peach and you’ll feel even the slightest bit more tan. Right now I’ve got pink toes and peach fingers!

3. Garnier BB Cream
Y’all- I just got this stuff and I freaking love it. I usually don’t wear foundation at all because I have pretty clear skin except for the occasional break out on my chin. Still, I notice that even when I get lots of sleep I have bags under my eyes and my skin looks dull. I put the Garnier BB Cream on my face as soon as I got home from the grocery store and I loved how it made my face look “wedding day ready”. I seriously had that bridal glow again (and it’s not greasy in the slightest!) If you need little to medium coverage- this is for you!

4. Bath and Body Works Aromatherapy Sugar Scrub
I got this sugar scrub as part of a prize for a give away a while back and it is amazing. I’m a bubble bath kind of girl, and I could sit in the tub for like a whole hour just adding hot water and pruning away. This sugar scrub makes your body feel SO soft and has essential oils so it moisturizes your skin. Just pat your skin dry (I usually do my legs and arms) when you get out of the tub and you’re good to go!

5. Bliss Fabulous Skin Reviving Rubberizing Mask
I also got this scrub as part of a give away prize from a few months ago and if you use this in combination with the Garnier BB Cream, you can’t go wrong. I have to admit- I’ve made Mathew try this too (and he tried to run away like a little kid when you put sunscreen on their face), and we both agree that it is pretty awesome. Plus- it turns to rubber on your face and you just peel it off. No washing needed!

So there they are- the 5 things I love to beat the winter blues. They’re all pretty reasonably priced and I highly recommend them all (obviously). If you’ve tried these, let me know what you think. Or, if you want to know where to get them, just ask. Oh, and don’t forget that if you hover over the picture you can pin it to Pinterest. I hope that if you try these that they help make your day just a little bit brighter! BEAT THE WINTER BLUES!
