I called my dad this weekend and told him the date of my graduation and he told me he thought I was going to be a professional student forever. Thaaaaanks, dad.

I have to say, the road through college hasn’t been easy. I was one of those students in high school that never knew what I wanted to do for a living. My family never pushed a profession on me, and I knew that I would eventually go to college, but not really why.

I changed my major at least 5 times throughout college and everyone kept telling me I’d be a great teacher, but I was stubborn and didn’t listen. After several years of being stubborn about it, I realized that kids really ARE my passion.

This week I’m SO close to almost getting my degree. I have a huge 35-40 page paper that is due by Tuesday. It basically determines whether I graduate or not. No one has ever failed it (I think it’s a pass/fail kind of paper), but it’s definitely a lot of work. Not only that, but Thursday I take my VERY LAST state exam for teaching, the Generalist.

After these two things, it’s pretty much smooth sailing with the last of my student teaching until May. I must admit I’m pretty excited to hurry up with the last two months and graduate. I really don’t think I ever thought the day would come for me to graduate, but it’s so close!

What I’d like to ask of you all, is to pray or think positive thoughts towards me this week. It’s going to be a nerve wracking and stressful couple of days, and I need all the support I can get.

Also, I’d like to know…how did YOU know what you wanted to do the rest of your life? Did you always know, or was it a journey like it was for me?
