2011 was an amazing whirlwind of a year for me. I really am a blessed girl, and this year has completely proven that. Check out what I was up to this year!
January:
I started my blog only 6 months after Mathew and I got engaged. I attempted to do the 100 push up challenge, but school and wedding planning kicked my butt, and I failed (I hope to try to start it again this new year). I also got the opportunity to start my first “big girl” full time job, and it couldn’t have been a bigger blessing.
February:
Snowpacolypse 2011 hit Texas and we definitely weren’t prepared for snow! It was a nice change of pace though, and made for some great pictures. Mathew and I started pre-marital classes, and found out we were the last couple of the group getting married. Mathew and I had an early valentine’s, and only have one picture to show for it!
March:
I found the PERFECT invitations for our wedding in regards to our vintage/modern style. We were really productive in March and found our DJ, florist, and picked our cake baker! We also finished our pre-marital classes and had a retreat which was JUST what we needed.
April:
On a beautiful day, Mathew and I got our engagement pictures taken!

We also found the cutest flower girl dress for my gorgeous niece. Mathew continued his job hunt for a full time job so he could support us for when we got married.
May:
We registered for wedding gifts because our first shower was not far away, and we also sent out our save the dates (using our awesome engagement pics).

I got to phone interview the world renowned cake guru, Ron Ben-Israel, for Weddzilla, and couldn’t have been more excited to talk to him. I worked on a cute bridesmaid gift that I found on Pinterest (with Mathew’s help), too! I also had the privilege of having a beautiful rhinestone headband being custom made for me for the wedding by the amazing hairstylist, Ken Paves. We got a lot done in regards to the wedding, including picking up my mom’s dress and my sister’s bridesmaid dress, choosing the maid of honor dress, and checking out (again) the reception site. I didn’t mention it on my blog (but intended on it), but BM Beth Anne, and House Party girl Maggie came over and we made french macaroons! They were delicious and definitely sinful!
June:
My engagement photoshoot was featured on Jacin’s lovely site, Lovely Little Details, which was a BIG deal to me since hers is my favorite wedding inspiration blog. We hit the 6 month mark until our wedding, proving that time was ticking, and my littlest sister graduated high school.
I got to interview my friend, Ken Paves, which was a treat for myself and Weddzilla readers. I did a little DIY project too for our candy buffet and that night we got a ballroom dance lesson from groomsman Jacob. Lastly, I got my invitation for one of my wedding showers! We hit up Disney with Mathew’s family, and it was so much fun!
(I think Mathew would kill me if he knew I posted this. Hehe)
I have to admit, June was good to me.
July:
I found that the USPS was my best friend, because he brought me tons of wedding goodies while we were away at Disney World! The day before my birthday, I had my first wedding shower. Needless to say, I initially had some reservations about it, since it was a lingerie shower, but it was lots of fun. I also turned the big 2-5 and Mathew took me to Austin to kayak, to see Harry Potter in 3d at the IMAX, and eat at Sandra Bullock’s restaurant, Bess Bistro!
Stay tuned for part two, coming to you tomorrow!
Phew! What a year! I am so glad to have found your blog this year while planning my own wedding so I can track your progress and now you are a wife!! Which is super awesome! My wedding can’t come soon enough. PS. I never read the post about the headpiece and I absolutely LOVE the one that Ken Paves made you 🙂
Love the recap!
What a great year, girl! Here’s to an amazing 2012!
