Halloween has always been a huge deal in our house. We’ve worn coordinating costumes since Mathew and I have been married. Some of our favorites have been deer and a hunter, scarecrows, Goldilocks and the 3 bears, April the Giraffe with her baby and zookeeper, and the characters from Moana. I’ve enjoyed making our Halloween costumes because I’ve been able to make them adaptive for Addie and her needs. I’m so excited though that there are SO many adaptive Halloween costumes for kids with special needs now!
Did you know that a total of 12.8 percent of children under age 18 in the United States (roughly 9.4 million children) are estimated to have special health care needs? With more awareness of varying special needs, it’s amazing to see companies like Disney and Target coming out with adaptive Halloween costumes to meet the needs of these kiddos. I hope next year I can put out another post with even more mainstream businesses providing adaptive Halloween costumes, because even more options for kids would be incredible!
