Christmas is my favorite time of year. It’s usually the time I fall off the grid when it comes to blogging, Facebook, Twitter, etc. At least for a week or so. To me, Christmas is all about spending time with family, and that’s EXACTLY what I did.

If you didn’t read my giveaway post last week (you know- for those awesome sparkle Uggs), then there are a few things to catch you up on. My family went skiing 2 weeks ago in Red River, New Mexico. We try to go skiing every year, but it ends up usually being about every other year. This was the first ski trip my ENTIRE family had been on. I have 2 older siblings (a sister and brother) that are from my dad’s first marriage, and they’re in their 30s and have NEVER been on a family trip with us before. How does that even happen?! Needless to say, our ski trip was WAY overdue.

Dropped off Pearl with her Grandma and found this in the
console of the car! Mathew (I mean Pearl) was so thoughtful!

Mathew with his “Makayla is not impressed” face when I
put on N SYNC’s “Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays” song
on the radio to start our trip. I may or may not have been dancing

Our first road trip stop. Natty Flat! Some of the BEST Texas
brisket I’ve ever tasted!

Natty Flat’s only had outhouses for restrooms. Yeah, that was
interesting.

Where’s Waldo? (I mean Stephanie) This is a pic of me
and the world’s largest rocking chair. Can you find me?
Nothing but FLAT land. Ugh we needed to hurry and get
out of the middle of nowhere.

We made it to New Mexico!

Mathew was excited that we were in New Mexico

Finally starting to see snow. It was such a tease!
Beautiful mountainside on our way to Red River.
Check out the gorgeous skyline!

Got to our condo and found these 3 deer just chillin and
eating grass! It was so cute!

Went out for dinner our first night in Red River.
These are my adorable parents.

Of course we had to be goofy. Y’all KNOW this is our
signature pose!

More snow outside our condo. It snowed every night
(and most days) we were there!

Our car was COVERED in snow. I love the snow 🙂
I don’t look so sexy after skiing for hours. Sweaty face and
hair. Eww.

Snow storm mid-day. I couldn’t hardly see outside! We went
to the top of the mountain to ski before this and it was even
WAY worse.

My pookie and I after a long day of skiing. I look like poop.
Don’t judge!

Mathew and I after a run. Man  I was tired!

Love him 🙂
My older sister, Arlene, and I

The guys built a fire out here. I tried to sit down (I put a trash bag
on top of the log so I wouldn’t get wet) and lasted about 10 seconds.

Dad took this picture in the wee hours of the morning. So beautiful!

A picture of a picture. We got family pics taken by the photographer at the
slopes. I was ghetto and took a pic of it because I wanted to have it on my
phone.  Top: Arlene, Mom, Dad. Bottom: me, Heather (pookie), and Chris

Another pic of a pic. You KNOW y’all love our signature pose.

Pookie and I being goobers. This is what happens when you have
too much hot chocolate.

My sister Arlene sent this to me. I tried to teach her how to ski (hence
the bottom pic)

So in a nutshell, we had an AMAZING time in Red River. We were gone almost a whole week. It was a blast! Sadly, the last day on the last 2 hours of the trip Mathew got hurt. We thought he tore his LCL, then ACL, and finally found out yesterday that he actually has a Tibial Plateau Fracture. So basically he’s gotta be in a brace and crutches for about 8-12 weeks. Luckily, he’ll be able to work still, so that was a HUGE blessing for us.

Tomorrow I’ll be writing all about Christmas so make sure you don’t miss it! Oh and I announced the winner of the Life of Pi giveaway. Was it you?
