In the third grade I had a teacher that thought I was a liar. Sure, I was the chatty girl in class, so maybe school work wasn’t my biggest priority, but I wasn’t a liar. I told my teacher that I couldn’t see our work on the overhead, and she didn’t believe me. I’m pretty sure my teacher called my parents that afternoon, because the next day my parents took me to the eye doctor and I was told I needed glasses. When you’re in the third grade, appearances matter, and I was determined to be stylish with my glasses. I went to LensCrafters, and I picked out a pair of tortoise frames with Transition lenses (hip, at the time…or so I thought. Robert Irvine- you don’t fool me now!) and faced my new life as a third grader with glasses, and the first girl in our class to have them.
Since then, I’ve either worn glasses or contacts all day long. I went through a phase in the 7th grade where I was determined to be one of the cool kids and got contacts, but somewhere along the way as I got older, I realized that glasses were actually the “in” thing! Addie and I like to choose comfort WITH our style, and I have to have my “eyes” for everything. I’m on the computer a lot for blogging and keeping up with my Young Living team, Lavender & Lime Thyme, and when I’m not working on those things while Addie naps, I’m sitting on the floor with her on the play mat working her out and watching tv. Lately, Mathew has noticed I “grimace” a lot (his words, not mine) and I finally realized it’s because I need a new glasses prescription! That being said, it looks like I’ll be heading into a LensCrafters pretty soon to find a new pair of glasses for me and my new prescription because I can not afford to get so many wrinkles on my face while I’m still so young.
My very first pair of glasses in the third grade was from LensCrafters, and I’ve been going there ever since to get glasses. The prices are great, they always have a huge selection of frames (including designer brands), and they’re just known as a very reputable company. I once tried to take the lazy way out of purchasing glasses from another retailer and bought them online. They came out SO wonky even though I gave them my prescription, that I actually couldn’t wear them. Can you believe that? What a waste of money! I’ve never cheated on LensCrafters again, but because they have such a large selection, I’ve found myself getting a little overwhelmed at times when I go glasses shopping.
Thankfully, LensCrafters is saving me from being overwhelmed. They have a “My Account” section on their site, which allows me to search through their many frames. It also has a section called “Find Your Look” where you can take a quiz using your style and face shape to determine which frames would look best on your face. You can also save your favorite frames to your account which I thought was really nice because sometimes after you’ve looked at a lot of frames, they all sort of look alike, and then you get really confused. The “My Account” section also allows you to find a LensCrafters local to you, helps manage eye exams so you can review your eye history and see when you’re due for an annual exam, and add your purchase and prescription history. It really is a time saver to have everything in one spot!
Starting a “My Account” at LensCrafters is not only easy, but it keeps you incredibly organized (something I desperately have to be.) In addition to helping you select frames, the My Account area lets you book eye appointments (or check when your last one was), keep track of your past purchases and prescriptions, and set reminders for before your vision benefits expire (YES PLEASE to not missing a big deadline like this again!)

I’ve always just bought my glasses through my eye dr’s office, but as I’ve gotten older and my RX has gotten stronger, the price has gone way, way up too! One of the things on my list for this eye apt go around was actually shopping for my glasses rather than just buying them at my dr’s office. $50 toward my cost can’t hurt the process at all! LOL

Oh nice! I’m a contact wearer, but I keep a spare set of glasses for when my eyes are irritated. This is a great deal!

This would be helpful even if you don’t need reading glasses, because I know for me at least finding sunglasses that fit my face shape can be tricky.

I’ve usually bought through my eyedoctors because i have to try them on to make sure that they’re not too big or too small for my eyes, as well as suit my face.

Oh I’m definitely going to have to remember this for the next time I need new glasses! I always hate lens shopping, because I feel like I have to try on every single pair before I find one that *maybe* I like. This seems like a great way to narrow it down ahead of time and not be so overwhelmed!
