If you follow me on Facebook and Instagram you may have read about our little air conditioning incident on Saturday. Mathew had to head to his deer lease because he hasn’t been there in about 2 years and is actually planning to hunt this year since Addie is home from the hospital. The deer lease is about two hours away and I was happy to let Mathew have time with his dad to get everything ready for deer season…that is, until I realized that our air conditioning went out. I promptly freaked out because I’ve never had any kind of household emergency with Addie, and I texted our landlord so we could get someone to fix our air immediately. Then I called my mother-in-law and begged her to come save us. Addie has an oxygen concentrator that runs 24 hours a day and generates oxygen for her. It makes our house pretty warm, so with the concentrator running and no air conditioning, we were boiling. I had to throw extra supplies in a luggage in case we were going to have to spend the night at my in-laws’ house, and grabbed a bag full of travel friendly toys from Playskool for Addie.
Addie has many supplies that we have to take with us if she has to be somewhere longer than a few hours, and we had actually never taken her out to someone else’s house until Saturday when the air went out. She has her concentrator, ventilator, ventilator stand, oxygen tank (for the car), pulse oximeter, suction bag, trach supply bag, ambu bag, and then I filled our luggage with a ton of diapers, bottles, medicine, medicine syringes, feeding bag, feeding pump, clothes, and bath stuff. Not to mention, I had to grab her pack and play in case we were spending the night. I brought a bag of Addie’s toys from Playskool because their new on-the-go line has adorable, storable, and portable toys.
This new on-the-go line of Playskool toys was specially created for parents like me that were looking for storability and portability to help accommodate their hectic schedules. They were easy for me to grab them, throw them into her bag, and hand them to my sister in law to throw in the car quickly so we could get out of our boiling house. Since all the toys are travel friendly, we were able to pack them in the car with ease. Each item in the Playskool on-the-go collection can be easily compacted to throw into a car, stroller, diaper bag, or even a jacket pocket.
I also made sure to grab some of Addie’s Playskool toys because we do physical therapy and occupational therapy together as part of her play time. With so much stuff to carry and put in the car already, I needed to grab travel friendly toys as well as toys that were functional for her therapy needs. Addie has so many toys, but I really make sure that they are functional for her therapy needs because otherwise they’re just junk to me. If they help her reach, pull, pick up, etc then they’re on my list to be a good therapy toy. Playskool’s on-the-go line has fun, colorful toys that are made to encourage various play benefits for fine motor skills and sensory play, which automatically means they make the cut when it came to deciding on what toys to bring while we were out.
Thankfully, we didn’t end up having to spend the night at my in laws’ house. Our landlord contacted an air conditioning man to come fix our air right away, and by the time we finished dinner we were able to come home to a nice, cool house. Although we had a blast visiting our family, there’s no place like home, and our own beds. All of our stuff was easy to pack and haul back over to our house, which made lugging everything very painless.

Because Addie and I love her new Playskool travel friendly toys from their On-The-Go collection, we’re giving away 5 Playskool prize packs valued at $75.95 for our readers! We want you all to be able to enjoy their adorable, storable, and portable toys for your kids. Make sure you enter because you never know if you’ll be chosen to win one!
