Blogger Buddy Weekend

When I get together with my friends, what do we do? Have a photo shoot of course! You know we can’t get enough of Sar’s photography, and to be honest, we needed some new group pictures with Sarah added in!

The girls came into town and we had our “quad date” with all the guys. It was the first time all the guys had come to join us and let me tell you- it was a fun and interesting experience! It’s so funny how many personalities you can get together in one room and yet still have a ton of fun!

I did Crossfit the morning before everyone came, so I’m not sure how much fun I was because I was already so sore, but it was still great. I’ll be letting y’all know more about my Crossfit experience this week, but I had to share the cute photo shoot pictures we took!

What did you do this weekend? Keep me in the loop!

Married Life and the Weekends…

Mathew and I have pretty busy weeks. He gets up at 5 am, gets dressed, and leaves the house before I even open my eyes to get ready for work at 6:30. We’re gone all day, get home, eat dinner, watch a little tv, head to bed, and then the cycle starts all over again the next day.

Our weeks seem to fly by (yet go slowly- how does this happen?!) and it makes me want to cram as much time with him on the weekends as possible. I’m usually down for the Waco Downtown Farmer’s Market to eat crepes at my friend Courtney’s place, Co-Town Crepes, or hitting up the Marketplace, our outdoor “mall”- if you want to call it that. Somehow our weekends always lead to a little bit of shopping, whether it’s for us or the apartment.

This weekend consisted of us pretty much running errands (even a fun one with Austin for mani/pedis!) and then having a spontaneous photo session at a church pumpkin patch with Sar and finally getting to meet the adorable Karenna. It’s amazing how awesome these gals are and how funny that I’d never met them prior to blogging, even though Waco is such a small town. Right now Sar is editing my pictures, but I’ll be sure to show you them all later this week! Here’s a funny one though, just to keep y’all wanting more.

We look good, right?!

After our photoshoot, we hit up Olive Garden for a “hot date” since we were dressed cute, and before we went to dinner, we stopped at the house to drop off Pearl. I took some Benadryl because the hay from the pumpkin patch kept making me sneeze, and we headed out. Apparently, I didn’t realize the fact that I shouldn’t be taking medicine and drinking a glass of wine, because right as we finished dinner, I started getting really sleepy. We had to stop by my in laws house because Kristin brought the car for us to borrow, and I literally said hi and then fell asleep on their couch for an hour and a half. Oops! Let’s just say I won’t be doing that again!

Mathew has been hinting this weekend that he’s planning our anniversary weekend. Since this year was a leap year, it’s unfortunate that our anniversary hits on a Monday this year, but we’ll at least get the weekend to celebrate it. He says we’re going to Austin, and I’m pretty excited. I’m baffled at the fact, though, that our anniversary is a month and a couple days away. On one hand, it feels like we’ve been married just a month or two ago, but on the other hand, it feels like it’s been years. I love it.

Speaking of Austin, I made plans to go to a blogger brunch in Austin for this coming Saturday. I’m really excited about it, but this just further proves that I need to get bloggy business cards made. I’ve got mock ups in my head (and on a few post-its), so I’m going tomorrow to get them all made up since my professor isn’t having class tomorrow. I’m excited to have my own business cards! I’ll let you all know next week how the blogger brunch goes, and if you’re near Austin, let me know and I’ll give you the deets.

Another thing we’ve done this weekend is continue our marathon of Pretty Little Liars! Y’all- I’m obsessed.

This show totally rocks my world, and now I know why my sister was bugging me for months to watch it. I have been wanting to watch it, but from the very beginning. It’s all Neely’s fault, because when I went to visit her the other weekend, we watched tons of shows on Netflix, and once I told Mathew, he had to have it. So, we’re Netflixing PLL to death and are on Season 2. I’m telling y’all- I don’t know how I lived without this show. Plus, can their style BE any cuter?! This show is about how “scary” as I like, so it gets me in the Halloween mood, especially since I’m not dressing up this year.

Anyway, that’s my weekend- what did y’all do? Anything fun? Halloween party? Or did you stay at home and chill?

What I love about the weekends- the fair

As much as I put recipes, fashion, etc on the blog, I want to remind you all that this is also my personal blog where I love to share pieces of my life. For you new followers, I began this blog when Mathew and I were engaged, and now that we’re married, my blog has taken such a different route. I love talking about my time with my husband, because one day I’ll want to look back and have some amazing memories.

So here goes:

What I love about the weekend is that I get to spend as much time as possible with Mathew. During the week he works in a city about 30 minutes away, so he wakes up incredibly early and leaves before my alarm even goes off. Then, when he gets home from work, we pretty much have dinner, watch tv/do homework, and then we’re off to bed. We don’t get “us” time during the week, so we make it up to each other on the weekends. Sure, we hang out with friends too, but majority of our time, we love to spend with each other.

Welcome!

Yesterday we spent the evening at the Heart of Texas Fair and Rodeo here in Waco. This is the 3rd year in a row that I’ve gone with Mathew, but I have to say- this one was the MOST fun. Usually we just walk around to the main area, don’t ride the rides (or even go in that section), and go to the rodeo. It’s usually just O.K., but it’s the same every year.

This year was different.

The weather was a chilly 52 degrees, and I actually got to put on a coat! As soon as we got there I realized I should have used my knitted headband thing, but it was too late. We walked around and stumbled upon this stunt double group who were doing tricks.

After watching them for a little bit, we went into the BIG petting zoo area. There were cows, horses, chicks, piglets, a llama, and even a kangaroo! I think I should’ve been a vet in a past life because I wanted to squish hug every little animal and take it home. I probably could’ve spent the whole day there, but Mathew peeled me away for more fun.

The adorable entrance

Mathew: “I’m petting a goat!”

Yep, I’m totally feeding a kangaroo

There’s a section of the fair where you can go inside this building and see lots of vendors selling random stuff. There were caramel apples, candles, clothes, wood work, cooking stuff, etc. We ended up buying a caramel apple with peanuts around it and OMGOSH it was the best ever. Mathew also got to meet this guy that he really admires that’s going up for Sherriff soon in the general election. No, Waco isn’t THAT small that we take large notice of Sheriffs, but Mathew is all into this guy’s career since he loves anything about law enforcement (this man is retired FBI and all that jazz).

A candle we found called “butt naked”

We walked around and I decided we needed to walk into the area where the rides were. We NEVER go on the rides mainly because they’re a lot of money, and those things go up in a day- how do we know they’re safe?! We checked out the most random rides and “attractions” and even stumbled upon this “world’s smallest horse” thing. I didn’t want to pay $1 if it was like a toy horse or something, but I saw this girl around my age pay it and take a picture. I asked her to show it to me and it ended up being a pony, but the thing he was in was lowered towards the ground so it seemed like he was 10″ tall. It was funny. We also saw some attraction that was about a woman that was part snake. All I have to say is, that was too bizarre for me to even want to check out.

If that’s not weird idk what is

Yummy junk food!

I’m amazing at these

After walking around the rides, it was rodeo time! My phone died during the rodeo, so I’ve only got one picture. I was sad too because I wanted to show y’all the “Mutton Bustin’.” Mutton Bustin’ is where these 4-5 year olds sign up to ride sheep and try to stay on as long as possible. It’s hilarious because you just see these little kids holding onto sheep for dear life and then falling off. I die laughing every time. The winner gets a huge trophy and a new pair of boots. It’s cute.

Fatty! lol don’t worry- I shared.

I got a picture of a guy riding his bronco barebacked, and I’m so glad there weren’t a lot of guys doing this part of the competition. They ride without helmets and I get extremely nervous. In fact, one guy broke his wrist (and possibly some other things) because he fell off his bronco and it stepped on him, and another guy tried to get off his horse and he fell onto the ground wrong and dislocated his shoulder. Needless to say, my hands covered my eyes a lot.

First guy going bareback

I had such a great time with Mathew. I laughed and laughed all night with him and felt like we were back to when we first started dating. I always know how in love with him I am, but it’s always great to have a little extra reminder.

What do YOU love about the weekends? Have you ever been to a fair? What about a rodeo?
