Be Yourself Together: Wedding Gifts by Target

This post is sponsored by Target, but all writing and opinions are 100% my own. #beyourselftogether #Targetwedding

Mathew and I are going to a wedding today and are so excited to celebrate! I got a fun outfit, my hair is nice and curled, and we’ve got our gift in hand. I love going to weddings because I really like to find the individuality of the bride and groom. Target’s “Be Yourself, Together” is just about that!

Content and/or other value provided by our partner, Target.

Not only that, but when I’m looking for a wedding gift, I want it to be nice, without breaking the bank. The bride and groom we’re celebrating today are a really fun couple. The groom is the brother of Mathew’s best friend, and is a fun, outgoing guy that likes to have friends over all the time. The bride is sweet, sophisticated, and an all around southern girl. I went to Target to check out their registry with Target Wedding  to find a gift that really was perfect for them as a couple and came across these fun gifts for the different parts of their personalities:

1. The Mixologists: A family that drinks together, stays together? Ok, I’m not too sure about this one, but knowing that this couple enjoys a good drink every now and then, I think this is the perfect gift for them. This Black and Silver Barware set at Target comes with everything they will need to make their favorite cocktails. It comes with a shaker, ice bucket and tongs, and wine bucket.

Love this barware set from Target! Perfect for a wedding gift! #beyourselftogether #Targetwedding

I also think this barware set would be perfectly gifted with the Threshold Double Old-Fashioned Tumbler Cheers so they can actually enjoy those delicious cocktails. Rimmed with salt or sugar, what could be better?

This cheers tumbler is perfect for a bride and groom that love to make and drink cocktails! So cute! #beyourselftogether #Targetwedding

2. The Poolsiders: The bride and groom LOVE to go swimming. The groom’s parent’s have a really nice saltwater pool, and are known to always have the couple over to swim. I mean, it’s Texas! So, what better than to get them a Portable Boom Box Speaker?  The speaker connects wirelessly with most mobile phones, media players, and 3.5 mm devices, and also has a port to hold and display your device. I think it’s a fabulous gift, and something that they’ll really love. Pair it with an iTunes gift card and it’s the perfect wedding gift!

This Portable Boom Box Speaker from Target is a great wedding gift find! Perfect for the couple that loves to party by the pool! Love this barware set from Target! Perfect for a wedding gift! #beyourselftogether #Targetwedding

3. The Hosts: Being that the lovely couple like to have friends over, I thought the 4-in-1 Cheese and Wine Set would be a fun gift as well! The cheese cutting board is small enough that it won’t take up much room in their house, and it also hides an area for a wine bottle opener and other accessories. It’s just the right gift so they can have something out for guests when they come over.

This wine and cheese set is perfect for a bride and groom that love to have people over! #beyourselftogether #Targetwedding

I also think this would be perfectly paired with these fancy stoneware cheese markers from Target to just make it the perfect gift for the couple.

Love these cheese markers from Target! They'd make the perfect wedding gift with a cheese board! #beyourselftogether #Targetwedding

4. The Foodies: What is so fun about being married (to me) is the fact that I can cook for my husband. I know the bride feels the same exact way, and why not gift them one of the gifts that I loved getting too? It’s the Rachael Ray 2 piece EVOO and Vinegar Dispenser set! Let me tell you- I use this more than pretty much ANYTHING else in my kitchen. I actually don’t use vinegar much in cooking so my big dispenser has olive oil, and the small dispenser has vegetable oil. They’re a good size, made of stoneware so they’re durable, and they’re easy to fill. It’s perfectly gifted with a homemade garlic olive oil or rosemary olive oil!

This Rachael Ray EVOO and Vinegar set is perfect for a bride and groom that love to cook! #beyourselftogether #Targetwedding

Overall, I think any of these gifts would be great for the happy couple! We ended up going with giving the Rachael Ray set and rosemary olive oil because I truly felt that they would enjoy it. Hopefully they love their gifts and have a wonderful wedding today. I’ll be posting pictures on Instagram today for y’all to keep up with the fun festivities!

What’s the best or most unique wedding gift you’ve ever gotten or given?

When I Became The Vintage Modern Wife: Our 2 Year Anniversary

I can’t believe how fast time flies. I know people say that, but sometimes it really does feel as though my life is flashing through my eyes. When I started this little blog, I was The Vintage Modern Bride. I blogged about our engagement day, and I felt as though our 18 month engagement would NEVER end. But…. two years ago, I married the most amazing man, and I became The Vintage Modern Wife. We had the most spectacular day and even though there were a few hiccups, it was perfect to us. I never truly shared wedding pictures of our big day because they were all on a disc and my netbook laptop didn’t have a disk drive. Now that we have our new computer, I am so thrilled to FINALLY share some of my favorite pictures of our big day with you. Our photographers, Rhonda and Tim, from Legacy Imaging captured more than I could’ve ever imagined. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!

Without further ado, here’s the story of  when I became The Vintage Modern Wife..

The Vintage Modern Wife shows off her wedding dress details with this custom bridal hanger to hold her dress!

I fell in love with my Oleg Cassini wedding dress the second I tried it on. It was ivory with champagne beaded accents, tulle ruffles, and lace. It was everything I could’ve ever dreamed of- a little vintage, a little modern, hence The Vintage Modern Bride. I got the hanger from an Etsy vendor during our engagement and I love how it looked put together with my dress.

Absolutely love this beaded clutch and satin garter from The Vintage Modern Wife's wedding! Our bridesmaids dresses were David’s Bridal Watermelon and I love how my vintage-inspired beaded clutch and satin garter look on it. I looked forever for the perfect garter and also found this on Etsy. The bow was so cute and was a great addition to my dress.

I love this picture of The Vintage Modern Wife, her mom, and her mother in law helping put her veil on before her wedding. I need a picture like this! This is one of my favorite pictures from the day- especially because it captures a memory that I honestly don’t remember happening. Getting my dress on at the church is such a blur (in fact, I swear that I got dressed by myself and no one helped me. Obviously I was wrong!) and so it’s really nice that Rhonda was able to get this photo for me. My mother is on the left, and Mathew’s mom is on the right, making this such a special picture for me.

This picture from The Vintage Modern Wife's blog is too cute! The flower girl kissing the groom is one picture I definitely need at my wedding!

While I got dressed at the church, Mathew was having fun taking pictures with the wedding party. This particular picture of my niece, Lexi, and Mathew warms my heart. I have a copy of this picture hanging in our guest bedroom just because I love it so much.

I love this picture from The Vintage Modern Wife where her groom is waiting for her to come down the aisle. So sweet!

Another absolute favorite of mine from our wedding is this picture of Mathew and his dad (the best man) in the background. Mathew said that this is when he saw me coming down the aisle. It’s such a sweet picture and I can just feel all the emotion coming from it. Seeing that face as I walked down the aisle was the best thing ever.

This picture of The Vintage Modern Wife and her dad walking down the aisle is great! I love the lanterns hanging on the sides and the lit tulle runner! If you can’t tell in this picture, I’m about to lose it. I busted out crying happy tears on the aisle and tried my hardest to keep my huge smile on my face. I was so overjoyed because our engagement had been so long that I really truly had felt as though our wedding would never get there. Mathew’s Aunt Marylynn did the decor for the church and reception, and I love how the modern lanterns looked on the sides of the aisles. This picture captures exactly how I wanted our church to look. Also, if you notice the runner, there’s lit tulle on the sides, which give it a classical and whimsical feel.

This bride and groom from The Vintage Modern Wife is so pretty! I love the classic black and white for this. After the wedding, Mathew and I took lots of pictures together. This one is so sweet to me and really makes me feel all warm and happy inside. I felt so beautiful and couldn’t believe I’d just married the man of my dreams.

I definitely need a picture of my groom and bridesmaids like this one from The Vintage Modern Wife. It's too funny!Of course, Mathew and I can NEVER stay serious for too long, so then it became time for us to take fun pictures like this one. I love how all the bridesmaids look. They really were pulling on him pretty hard! Ps- see that cute bridesmaid in the front with glasses? That’s Beth Anne- she’s getting married next year and we just got her Save the Date! I’m so excited she’ll get to have a wonderful day like we did very soon.

These hot pink socks for the groomsmen are priceless! Gotta have pink colored socks for my groomsmen! While the girls, Mathew, and I were having a hilarious time taking pictures, the guys patiently waited off to the side- resulting in this cute picture. Yeah, the pinks don’t match (one of our little hiccups and the bad part of buying things online), but they guys thought they were fun and were pretty good sports about them.

This pink candy bar buffet is too cute! Love all the different pink candies that The Vintage Modern Wife used! After the ceremony, everyone headed to the reception. This is what the pink candy buffet looked like before we got there. By the time we’d gotten to the reception, half of it had been demolished (and under the table were boxes of lots more to replenish). We never got to see it in person in it’s full beauty. Mathew’s aunt made a stunning centerpiece with ornaments in the middle (it stood at least 3-4 feet high), and surrounded it with different pink candies. The pink glassine bags were made by me, with a personalized stamp that said “Love is Sweet”.

Love this vintage-inspired wedding cake from The Vintage Modern Wife. The monogrammed wedding cake and lace tiers are gorgeous!

Our cake baker came highly recommended by several people in town, and we actually had a blast taste testing months before the wedding. He gave us an entire tier’s worth of cake in different flavors to take home and let our friend’s try! When it came down to our wedding, I was glad I’d had the chance to taste our cake beforehand at home because I literally got one bite of the wedding cake and one bite of the groom’s cake and that was it! It was amazingly delicious and last year the baker made us a fresh tier for our 1 year anniversary.

A sparkler exit is the best finale to an evening wedding. I love how this picture from The Vintage Modern Wife turned out as they're exiting their reception.Red-faced from dancing too hard, holding my train because someone stepped on it (twice) and I didn’t want to bother trying to fix the bustle or the safety pins that had held it the first time it broke, wearing flip-flops because my shoes killed my feet by the end of our ceremony, we had a sparkler exit at our reception and left for Austin to stay at the Driskill Hotel. This picture sums up our night and shows just how truly happy and excited we were!

So there you have it folks- a tiny glimpse into our wedding TWO years ago. It’s been one crazy, emotional, fun, scary, adventurous ride- but I’m so thankful to be on the ride with Mathew. He’s an absolutely wonderful husband and I can’t wait to spend many, many more wedding anniversaries with him. Here’s to the man who turned me from The Vintage Modern Bride into The Vintage Modern Wife- you’re the best thing that’s ever happened to me Bambino!

It’s Friday and I’m Happy: (Happies and Crappies 45!)

1. Every Friday at work, our music teacher sings a song that goes “It’s Friday and I’m happy. It’s Friday and I’m happy. It’s Friday and I’m happy. It’s Friday. I’m happy!” I can’t help but sing it too every time Friday rolls around. I am in DIRE need of the weekend!

2. I FINALLY grabbed the pictures we need for our wedding album. Our 2 year anniversary is December 3rd and I hadn’t done it yet. My MIL had been hounding me to do it and I finally remembered to! With about 100 pictures, I’m excited to see how our album turns out. I posted one on Instagram last night just because it is one that I really love (and don’t even remember happening!) If you’re looking for a Waco photographer, I hope you’ll check out Legacy Imaging. They are amazing! If you look at the slide show on their home page, you may or may not see Mathew and I on there!

3. My dream is happening tomorrow… I GET TO MEET JESSICA SIMPSON! I seriously have no idea what I’m going to say to her. Honestly, I could go on for days and ramble to her about all the things I’ve ever wanted to tell her my whole entire life, but I’m going to try and play it cool. But let’s be honest…I’ll be freaking out and acting a little crazy. I really would love to work with her or her team sometime for this blog . I think it would be fun to showcase her products (because I have SO many and buy anything that has her name on it). I’m excited to meet Ashlee too. Like I said last Friday, she reminds me so much of my little sister that I just think it’d be cool.

Ashlee Simpson and Jessica Simpson in Florida at Dillards signing

Ash and Jess are just like me and my sister. My sister wears a lot of black and is edgy, and I love pink! See? We’re meant to be besties!

4. My coworker that had twins earlier this semester is finally coming back to work on Monday. She was very encouraging to me before the school year started and was always willing to help me or give me advice. I’m so excited that she will be back starting next week. She actually stopped by the school on Wednesday and I got to hold her little babies again. They were just precious. I definitely didn’t want to share!

5. My car is FINALLY going to be starting to get worked on. We had so much insurance stuff to deal with but now it’s all fixed and the car is on it’s way to being 100%. I’ve missed it. I forgot how much of a gas guzzler my old Jeep was. Boo.

1. I’m sick AGAIN. I feel like I say this every week. This time? Drainage with a terrible cough. My throat burns so badly! Stupid germs.

2. I have a bad habit of peeling my nails if they get too long. I did my index finger too short and now it hurts. Lame.

3. I’m so old. I used to love going to midnight premieres of movies. Now, I’d rather go on the weekend so I don’t risk falling asleep during the movie. What happened to me!? In any case, I’m SO ready to see Catching Fire. I hope it is as good as the book.

Now it’s your turn to link up! Tell us about the Happies and Crappies from your week!
