HAPPIES

1. Monday we will get to see our baby again! It’ll be our 11 week appointment and I can’t wait to see what our baby looks like on an ultrasound now that it’s bigger. With our first ultrasound it looked like a little blueberry, and I’m hoping to see that it really looks like a baby now!

2. We got our income tax return this week and paid off our one and ONLY credit card! It feels so good to just have that out of the way. We have paid off several big bills in the past year and I’m just so glad to knock them off of our list!

3. I stayed home sick yesterday because I felt so rotten, and Mathew was so sweet to buy me a rose just out of the kindness of our heart. It just amazes me at how wonderful of a husband he’s truly been. He’s been taking over laundry, dishes, cooking (some days), and even gets up to get me whatever I need. I can not even express to him how amazing he has been, and how thankful I am to have him in my life. I feel like such a burden at times because by the time I get home from work I’m useless. He really is a huge blessing to me.

CRAPPIES

1. “Morning” sickness has really gotten a hold of me the past week. At first the only reason I really hadn’t been on here was because I was always so exhausted. Now, it’s exhaustion AND vomiting. Ah, that glamorous side to pregnancy. It’s weird though, because the craziest things can make me start to gag…and then it’s all over from there. Last night was one such night, and I was able to hold down some toast after not being to hold down my dinner. I’m seriously ready for this part to be over with.

2. The cold weather is back. I hate it. I’m ready for Spring. Go away Winter.

HAPPIES

1. After being pregnant for 9 weeks (and knowing about it the ENTIRE TIME), we finally announced our pregnancy! I am so glad we finally got to tell our family, friends, and coworkers this week because we’ve been holding it in for so long! One of my favorite pictures from our photo shoot with Legacy Imaging (who did our wedding as well!) is actually this shot below. The cookies were made by Amy of Sweet Elise (her blog is The Holland House). She made us a whole batch of cookies and they came out even more wonderful than I thought of in my head. I only asked her to make the 3 cookies you see here, but she sent me 6 heart cookies (each color had 2 shades in case I wanted the darker/lighter set), AND she sent me some other beautiful Valentine’s themed cookies! If you ever are looking for beautiful cookies for a celebration (or just for fun), email or call her up! She’s amazing!

Love these valentine sweetheart inspired cookies from Sweet Elise Bakery in Austin on The Vintage Modern Wife. Too cute!

2. I went to Chuy’s yesterday with my friend, Austin for chips and salsa. I hadn’t been to Chuy’s in MONTHS annnnnnd I hadn’t seen Austin truly in months either. It was definitely overdue. Before Austin got to Chuy’s I sat at the only available table in the bar area and waited for her. These two biker guys in their 50’s were at the table next to me and I saw them pay their bills and get up. Then, one of them approached me, handed me a penny with a cross cut out in the middle of it, and said “The big guy told me you needed a blessing.” Shocked, because it’d been a rough day and money-wise we’re going through some tougher times,  I said “I do! Thank you so much!” It just truly made me feel blessed and just happy to know that God is always watching over us. Sometimes when things are hard it just seems like nothing can go right…but God always shows how he’s right there beside me cheering me on to just push through.

3. The weather has been absolutely wonderful the past few days. I’m loving the 70-80 degree temps and wish it’d stay like this all year. I headed out to the pool with Mathew after work the other day to just relax. I wanted to nap, but ended up playing on my phone outside, but it was still nice to just be out and relax with the warm sun and light breeze. I’m so ready for pool season!

4. Next week I’m hoping to start “Baby Bump Mondays” with baby bump pictures. My weeks “change” every Friday and that’ll give me the weekends to make my chalkboards and take pictures. What do y’all think?

CRAPPIES

1. Although I have a few crappies, this week has truly been a great week and I don’t want to spoil it with my one crappy. I really am blessed and this week, for once, I won’t be posting a crappy because it’s not important.

HAPPIES

1. I made the CUTEST valentines for my students last night. With all the candy that they’ll be getting today, I didn’t want to add to their huge pile of cavities. I decided to go and buy a huge box of goldfish, some cute valentine cellophane bags, and made these fun tags for my kiddos. I think they came out great! I’ll take a picture of them on their desks today to show y’all on Instagram, but I thought it’d be nice to share my little craft making with you all and give you a freebie printable for your kids! Here’s an example of them (don’t mind my terrible cutting with dull scissors hah!) You can get your FREE Valentine’s Goldfish Printable here or click the preview image for the PDF.

Love this Valentine's Goldfish Printable from TheVintageModernWife.com! Finally a free printable!
2. Our #GraeBlogiday giveaway on Instagram has commenced! If you have an Instagram simply follow the 4 hosts, regram the picture, and use our hashtag to be entered to win! The giveaway prize includes a chevron infinity scarf, a roller ball of perfume, a beautiful necklace, and a lotion sample! Definitely enter while you can!

3. I’m dreaming of warm climates and wishing I was back in Mexico on my honeymoon. Thinking of Mexico is ALWAYS a happy because we seriously had the best week of our lives there. Oh, how I long to go back…

4. I’ve got a special Valentine’s dinner on the menu for tonight. We decided it’d be more cost efficient to eat in this year, especially because we always choose to go somewhere uber fancy, and I took it upon myself to decide the menu since I’ll be cooking. It’ll still be fancy and over the top, but definitely WAY less expensive than if we’d chosen to go out to eat. For our appetizer I’ll be making cheese fondue with cheddar and swiss cheese. To dip I’ll be buying pumpernickel bread and granny smith apples. For the main course I’ll be making steaks, mashed potatoes, and green beans. I’m drooling already for the steaks! As for dessert, I’ll be making a mock recipe of turtle pecan fondue from one of my favorite restaurants, The Melting Pot. It’ll be chocolate with caramel and pecans in it. I also decided it’d be fun to buy strawberries, marshmallows, and rice krispy treats to dip in it. I’m really hoping it’ll be as much of a success in person as it is in my head.

5. My parents are coming to visit us this weekend! I’m really excited because we haven’t seen them since New Years and they hardly ever come to town. Last time they came up here it was in the fall, and before then it’d been May when I graduated from college. Although the house isn’t quite in order yet like I wanted it to be (see crappy #1), I know it’ll all come together before they arrive.

CRAPPIES

1. So much for blogging mojo! I got sick this week and have been down for the count. I even stayed home yesterday to rest and felt even worse. I’m so ready to have the energy to blog for next week! I had to miss work yesterday (and I HATE missing work) because I felt so rotten. I think I’m on the mend, but we’ll see!
