The Texas Valentine Blogiday

I’ve been blogging for a couple years now, but only until a year and a half ago started meeting up with other bloggers. I remember being so nervous and excited for my first unofficial meet up, and then I branched out to blogger conferences, and other meet ups throughout Texas. I have loved every single meet up because of so many aspects- getting to travel, meeting new people, getting tips and tricks from friends, and generally just having a fun time without any worries. After going to the blogger meet up hosted by my lovely friends, Ruthie and Rose, I realized it was time for me to host my own. I wanted a meet up around Valentine’s day, in Texas, and something that would be a mini-holiday for bloggers, hence, the Texas Valentine Blogiday.

With the help of my awesome friends, Adrian and Casey, we brainstormed during Christmas and New Years’ break all of the ideas we had for the meet up. I’ve traveled so many times for meet ups in the past in Austin and Dallas, that I really wanted to bridge those two gaps together. There’s the Austin blogger meet ups and the Dallas blogger meet ups, but Waco was smack dab in the middle and seemed like the perfect location. The best part? I wouldn’t have to drive!

While I planned logistics and our amazing sponsors (shout out to The Confetti Bar, HomemadeXOJules, Olive Branch, and Grae Apparel!), Casey and Adrian planned gift bags for our blog friends that would join us. We had an great response of people who RSVPed to the party, and were SO excited to get the show on the road on February 8th.

When our blogger friends arrived to the meet up they were greeted with goodies (chocolate, wine, a tea towel, and other fun stuff!) and a custom made confetti popper from The Confetti Bar. I was DYING for the girls to see their poppers, because Jessica from The Confetti Bar, had put so much work into them and they were perfect. Not only were they the best shades of pink, but we had custom labels with our hashtag, and we had custom confetti made with our hashtag. Seriously…I was blown away- and the girls were too.

Olive Branch, where our meet up was held, was so gracious to give us delicious cupcakes for our meet up! As full as I was from brunch, I couldn’t help but try one because they looked so delicious. What I thought was plain vanilla actually had a sweet surprise- fresh strawberries inside! It definitely took me by surprise. I’d never had a cupcake with fresh fruit actually in it. It was amazing!

After our cupcakes, we all got together for a group picture and took a few pictures of us with our new friends in small groups. I think our backdrop with the tissue paper garlands from HomemadeXOJules’ Etsy shop were perfect and set the mood for our fun Valentine’s blogiday.

The best part about our meet up was that right upstairs from the restaurant is a fun collection of shops called Spice, and we set off to have our shopping spree. Spice is one of my favorite gems in Waco because it’s one huge floor of the building with TONS of homemade shops inside. Think of it like a bunch of Etsy shops all in one place. You can literally find something for everyone there, and they’re unique. It’s the bomb. My favorite shop in Spice is called Grae Apparel, and it was really funny because out of all the shops in Spice, EVERY one of us got at least something from Grae. It’s that good. Grae has boutique-style clothes, jewelry, and home items that are trendy but don’t hurt your wallet. Plus, they have a way of taking their pictures for their Instagram that just makes you want to run in the store and get something. Grae Apparel was so sweet and gave everyone goodie bags with chevron infinity scarves, perfume, lotion, and necklaces! What’s even better? We’ll be giving one away this week on our Instagram this week ūüėČ

Overall, I had an amazing time and spent my day with some great friends. I am so thankful to have friends that traveled from San Antonio, Austin, Killeen, and Dallas for our trip. I can’t believe that we had such a great outcome at the Texas Valentine Blogiday, and we’re already in talks about what we would like to do for our next meet up! Make sure you check out my Instagram this week for a giveaway of a goodie bag from Grae Apparel!

Have you ever been to a blogging meet up? What’s the furthest you’ve traveled for one? What was your favorite part of it?

HAPPIES

1. Our blogger meet up is a WEEK away! I’m DYING from excitement. I can’t wait for all the fun. The beginning of December until now has been SUCH a long time for me to go without going to a blogger meet up, and so I can’t wait for this one! Not only that, but I can’t believe so many fun people are coming. You know when you have a birthday and you invite a lot of people because you think only like half of the people are gonna show up? Well I thought it was going to be like that, but everyone wants to come! It just makes me feel blessed to know so many people in the blogging community that are willing to travel to hang out.

2. I’m learning to have a grateful heart more and more each day. I love this graphic from Simply Clarke because it just is such a great reminder. Every Sunday in Sunday School we pass around a paper that has prayer requests and praises for the week, and although many weeks I feel like I have lots to pray for, I always try to find at least one thing to give praise for. Although my life is not extravagant (see crappy #1), and although I may complain that I’m “boring” lately, the truth is, I’m thankful for my life anyway. I am so lucky to have a sweet and caring husband, a dog that loves to snuggle, and family and friends that would do anything for us. There is always something to be thankful and grateful for.

Start each day with a grateful heart

3. I’m meeting up with Rachel this weekend to get a mani/pedi and I am excited to get to know her a week before she comes to the #TxValentineBlogiday meet up. I want a Valentine’s manicure, but I cant decide what I want. I want my manicure to somewhat match my Valentine dress, but not go crazy. I love this mani from Holy Manicures and love how the roses are in different spots on the nails. I may do something similar but more tailored to the colors my dress is and without stripes.

CRAPPIES

1.¬†I feel like I’ve had nothing to blog about lately. My life is so mundane! I wake up, go to work, come home and cook, watch 1-2 shows on tv, and go to bed. Repeat. I love blogging though and am determined to post more. The blogger meet up is coming and I’ve got a Valentine’s photo shoot for you guys, so things should be on the up and up soon. I just wish I had more of a fun life where I had more things to write about!

Happy Anniversary, Happies and Crappies!

HAPPIES

1.¬†The blogger meet up that I’m hosting with Casey and Adrian is getting closer! It’s 2 weeks away and I am SO excited. Our list is packed with some great bloggers- some that I’ve met (and are really good friends with) and some ¬†that I haven’t met! I’m excited for everyone to meet up, have a blast at brunch and shopping, and having everyone go home with a happy heart and new friends. I got some goodies that we’re taking to the brunch for the girls, and here’s a sneak peek at PART of a surprise from The Confetti Bar. Make sure you’re following #TXvalentineblogiday on February 8th so you can “hang out” with us from your home!

2.¬†I made taco lettuce wraps for dinner the other night and it was SO amazingly good. It was the perfect example of clean eating because I just used meat with chili powder, cumin, garlic, and some other spices. Then I put the meat in butter lettuce (you could also use bibb lettuce) and top with your favorite taco toppings. I used the butter lettuce because it has a higher nutritional value than iceberg, and is strong enough not to break apart when you put all the taco stuff in it. Let me tell you- I am a carb LOVER…and I NEVER even missed the tortillas. At ALL. P.S.- do y’all like my SuperBowl paper plates from last year? Haha

3.¬†I met up with my awesome #TXValentineblogiday co-hostesses, Adrian and Casey, and Adrian cut my hair! It’d been SO long since I had a haircut and it was MUCH needed. We had a blast eating snacks, talking about silly stuff, and crafting after my haircut. We made a tissue paper garland for Adrian’s booth at a wedding vendor show, and just overall had a great time. I’m so glad that I met Casey at an Austin blogger meet up this year, and that I officially met Adrian at the meet up the other month in San Marcos. It’s such a blessing to know these ladies!

CRAPPIES

1.¬†I have a double eye infection and had to stay home from work yesterday. Stinging and burning eyes just aren’t my thing, so drops 4 times a day it is!

2. As excited I am for happy #1, I’m freaking out because our guest list is getting so high. I felt bad but I had to cut it off because we had such a great response. I had NO idea that a central Texas blogger meet up was so in demand, and I’m excited to host the first one. I may be freaking out though because I didn’t plan for so many to say yes! I also am doing my best to make sure that everything works out smoothly. It’s hard planning for lots of people!
